Penner Road is a large, complex and important building for SSE Plc. With 2,500 members of their staff working there every day, it was crucial that all health and safety requirements were met with ease and that the client themselves were comfortable with the safety measures we had implemented.
- Client: SSE Plc
- Construction Year: 2014
- Location: Hampshire, United Kingdom
- Duration: 3 Weekends
- Sector: Commercial
Our task was to find and implement a solution to the problem caused by the entrance doors to the building. The location of the site leaves it open to the elements and high winds made it impossible to open the doors. It was an unusual problem that required a bespoke solution.
We fitted glass doors with a stainless steel surround to create a chicane-style wind block allowing not only the doors to open but to remain so. The doors were designed and built in our own workshop and installed over a series of weekends to minimise disruption to our client’s working week.
Attention to detail to the interior colour scheme of the building was observed and the finished product is not only highly functional, but also sympathetic to the building itself.
